Eupen Cable delivered successfully 60 km Radiating Cable to ensure Radio Communications in the Guadarrama Tunnel, Spain.

Kabelwerk Eupen AG, Eupen Cable, is proud to have been chosen to deliver 60km of it's TETRA optimised Radiating Cables to this prestigious High Speed Rail Project.
The High-Speed, international track width line that joins Madrid, Segovia and Valladolid constitutes a fundamental factor in the railroad development of the North and Northwest of Spain, while at the same time forming part of the European Atlantic Railroad Axis. Therefore, it is considered by the EU to be one of the 14 priority projects in the field of transportation in upcoming years.
The High-Speed Line passes through surprising landscapes and delves into the heart of the mountains thanks to two of the three longest tunnels in Spain, the Guadarrama and San Pedro Tunnels. It fords rivers and crosses some of the most beautiful scenery on the Iberian Peninsula. It passes through Segovia and then Olmedo, continuing on to Valladolid, crossing the Douro River and the Antequera Pine Grove.
Crossing the Sierra de Guadarrama mountain peninsula, this double fornix tunnel is 16.5 miles (26.5km) long, with the widest of the two tunnels 33ft (10m) in diameter. The construction contract was signed in 2001, and work began soon after using a Tunnel Boring Machine, although progress was delayed by especially hard rock formations. The tunnel cost around $1.6 billion to build and upon completion, trains will be able to pass through at maximum speeds of 217mph (350km/h).
After an extensive pre-qualification and selection process, Eupen Radiating Cable RMC 114-T-HLFR was chosen on technical merit for their outstanding performances on the frequencies that are used for the Digital TETRA Services by the Emergency Services and their excellent Fire Safety features.
